City of Bones

Clary Fray witnesses a killing at a New York nightclub carried out by marked teenagers invisible to ordinary people. These are Shadowhunters, warriors who hunt demons and oversee werewolves and vampires. When Clary's mother vanishes and Clary herself is attacked by a demon, she is drawn into the hidden world of the Shadowhunters, including the golden-haired Jace, and must discover why she has gained the Sight and why demons take an interest in a supposedly ordinary human.
