The Spellshop

Kiela, a reclusive librarian at the Great Library of Alyssium, has spent a decade preserving the empire's precious spellbooks alongside Caz, a sentient spider plant. When revolution breaks out and the library burns, the two flee with as many spellbooks as they can carry to Kiela's childhood island home. There, needing income, Kiela begins making jam with help from an old recipe book and a bit of forbidden magic, and eventually opens the island's first secret spellshop. Along the way she contends with a persistent and handsome neighbor and the risks of using unsanctioned spells. The story is a cozy, lighthearted fantasy romance.
