In the age of Greek heroes, Patroclus, an exiled young prince, is sent to the kingdom of Phthia, where he grows up alongside Achilles, the gifted son of King Peleus and the sea goddess Thetis. An unlikely bond forms between the two boys and deepens as they come of age, training in war and medicine despite the disapproval of Achilles' divine mother. When Helen of Sparta is taken and Greece goes to war against Troy, Achilles is drawn by the promise of glory, and Patroclus follows him. This retelling, drawn from the Iliad, traces their companionship against the backdrop of the Trojan War.
