In a historical Spain shadowed by the Inquisition, a servant named Luzia conceals a talent for small miracles. When her mistress discovers the ability, she presses Luzia to use it to raise the family's standing. Drawn into a world of seers, alchemists, and frauds, Luzia attracts the attention of a disgraced royal secretary seeking to restore his position with the king amid war with England.
