In a historical Sicilian setting, Emilia and her twin sister Vittoria are streghe—witches living secretly among humans to avoid persecution. When Vittoria is found brutally murdered, Emilia sets out to find the killer and take vengeance, even if it requires forbidden dark magic. Her search brings her into contact with Wrath, one of the princes of Hell she was warned about in childhood tales, who claims to be investigating a series of women's murders on the island. As Emilia works with him, she learns that the Wicked are not always what they appear to be.
