Set after a curse is broken in the kingdom of Emberfall, this second series installment follows Prince Rhen, who faces rumors that he may not be the true heir, while his former guardsman Grey has gone missing and conceals a secret about his own lineage. As a neighboring ruler threatens Emberfall by force, Grey must decide whether to stand against Rhen, with that ruler's daughter Lia Mara questioning her mother's violent plans.
