Violet Sorrengail expected a quiet life in the Scribe Quadrant, but her mother, a commanding general, instead orders her to train as a dragon rider among Navarre's elite cadets. Physically smaller and more fragile than her peers, Violet must survive a deadly program where fellow candidates pose as much threat as the dragons themselves, and where being the general's daughter earns her particular enemies.
