In this second entry in the Emily Wilde series, folklore scholar Emily Wilde turns from her completed encyclopaedia of faeries to a new undertaking: mapping the realms of faerie. Her colleague and former rival Wendell Bambleby, an exiled faerie king fleeing his dangerous mother and seeking a door back to his own realm, complicates matters when assassins arrive in Cambridge. The pair travel to the Austrian Alps in search of a faerie door, facing perilous Folk while Emily contends with her own feelings and shifting relationships.
