The second entry in the Institute of the Shadow Fae series follows a former gladiator who, after living in poverty, is brought back to the Institute by Ruadan, only to be imprisoned and forced to pass a series of deadly trials or face the Institute's executioners. Set in the Demons of Fire and Night world, the story centers on her fight to prove herself against a once-trusted mentor who has turned cold.
