Clockwork Angel

Set in Victorian London, this first book of The Infernal Devices follows Tessa Gray, an American who travels to England in search of her brother. She discovers a hidden supernatural world populated by vampires, warlocks, and other beings, policed by demon-hunting warriors known as Shadowhunters. After being abducted by a secret organization, Tessa learns she possesses a rare shape-shifting ability that a mysterious figure called the Magister is determined to seize. Taking shelter with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, she agrees to help them in exchange for aid in finding her brother, becoming caught between two close friends while uncovering a dangerous plot.
