In a modern reimagining of the myth of Hades and Persephone, a young goddess conceals her divine nature to live as a mortal journalist in New Athens. Since childhood, her touch has caused flowers to wither. After a chance encounter with Hades, the God of the Dead who runs a gambling empire known for impossible wagers, she becomes bound to a contract requiring her to create life in the Underworld or forfeit her freedom. As she struggles with the terms of the bargain, a forbidden attraction develops between them.
